R.M. of Corman Park is very excited to be a part of the Ag-Capture Pilot Project in partnership with Agriculture Canada - Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration (PFRA).

You may see Agriculture Canada - PFRA vehicles throughout the Municipality performing "windshield surveys".  Surveyors are capturing data that is visible only from public land.

Ag-Capture Project Information

In 2005, a pilot program was conducted to profile agriculture and agriculture related activities in the Municipality.  Some interesting facts from the profile include:

The RM of Corman Park has a diverse and viable agriculture industry, having the highest
farm count and highest total farm revenue of any rural municipality in Saskatchewan (Statistics Canada, 2001 Census of Agriculture) (Huynh, 2006).

Many of the agricultural primary products produced from farms in the region contribute to over 100 agri-food businesses that employ over 3400 people (Huynh and Kapstein, 2006).

Farms in this region contribute 8.7 million dollars in wages and salaries, and over 20,000 weeks of paid work (Huynh, 2006).

With a steadily increasing population in the Saskatoon Planning District and RM of Corman Park, the RM recognizes the importance of creating beneficial land use policies that can enhance the growth and development of all sectors, including agriculture, while ensuring economic, social and environmental sustainability (Huyhn 2006).

The RM of Corman Park and Agriculture Canada – Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration (PFRA) are partners in an initiative entitled Ag Capture – An Agricultural Land Use Inventory Tool:  RM of Corman Park Pilot Project.  The project is being developed by PFRA’s Land Use Decision Support Unit and is intended to provide local and regional land-use decision makers, such as the RM of Corman Park with a means to acquire detailed information about agricultural land use activities.  Survey data from the pilot project will be utilized by the RM of Corman Park for local land use planning activities and initiatives.
